All Saints Church, Grinshill, built from exceptionally soft local sandstone had suffered considerable weather erosion by the time a cement render was applied. It wasn't until Cbs removed this render that the full extent of the damage was revealed. As a result, the original specification to reface the masonry was abandoned and a new more extensive scheme introduced, encompassing the dismantling and rebuilding of the tower at high level, introducing replacement stone including window heads and sills.
