Cbs carried out essential structural repairs under an NEC form of engineering contract for Shropshire council.
The Grade II listed early C19 sandstone bridge over the river Perry required the intoruction of 11no 25- 30m long ground anchors drilled through the masonry wing wall to arrest stone displacement.
A series of vertical Cintec anchors were installed to assist with the stability of the masonry.
The parapet was partly dismantled and rebuilt and numerous stone indents and large replacement blocks were installed both beneath the water line and within the main structure.
As the river Perry is liable to flash flooding, the scaffold structure was designed to ensure the works could progress without danger of flood damage.
A section of bank was also replaced using concrete filled sand bags.
Cbs managed the road closure throughout the works and worked with the ecologist to sensitively relocate crayfish encountered during the works.
The project was completed to the agreed programme and budget.
