Mrs. Coade's stone: This extraordinary stoneware, which proved to be more durable and weather resistant than stone itself, has its origins in the second half of the of the 18th Century. In her factory in Lambeth, London, Eleanor Coade received many commissions from all over Britain and abroad, including important work for George III and George IV and other members of the Royal Family. Her stone could be used for anything which would normally be carved in natural stone, from ornaments to complete vaults
