Cbs are proud to be undertaking works throughout the country to numerous war memorials in preparation for the centenary events in 2014.
The memorial in Alsager has long been plagued by what some may describe as practical jockers or perhaps better referred to as vandals.
Typically the bayonet has been removed and this has led to very significant damage to the sculpture . This damage was in turn very poorly repaired and the overall effect was rather sad.
Cbs were commisioned by the Parish Council, with works part funded by the War Memorials Trust, to design and manufacture a new, replica bayonet and carry out essential repairs to the sculpture, along with much needed cleaning and re-decoration works.
We designed the bayonet to be lightweight, engineered using anodised alluminium, connected to a stainless steel armature, around which we formed a new rifle end using a mortar repair system.
The monument as a whole was carefully cleaned using the DOFF system and the inscriptions repainted.
