Despite being possibly one of the least interesting and perhaps most irritating television shows in history, the idea of rebuilding a historically accurate replica building on the site of a Roman city, using period techniques and materials was a good one. Unfortunately the devil here was not in the detail and tweaks to the structure were required a little way down the line.
Cbs stripped and rebuilt the less than structurally capable colonnade, encompassing heavy oak carpentry, traditional roofing, lime render and lime decoration.
